Men who come unstuck in time deserve love, too, even men who have played The Hulk and Superman and who should know better than to get involved in sci-fi love matches without some superpowers to fall back on.
Like the Terminator, Henry (Eric Bana) can travel through time, but only when he’s naked, all of which leaves his girlfriend Claire (Rachel McAdams) confused, particularly when she’s a little girl.
The Defending Champion
Richard (Christopher Reeve) actually hypnotizes himself to go back in time for a one-night stand with Elise (Jane Seymour) but that 68 year age difference and her scheming manager prove stubborn obstacles to true love.
Eric Bana fell into his time paradox after he made “The Hulk” and had to run around in torn purple pants while Christopher Reeve got temporally jumbled after turning back time by flying fast around the world in “Superman: The Movie,” but it’s Bana who looks most comfortable in “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” probably because he gets to dress more casually.
Watching Superman mope around over a girl like he does in “Somewhere in Time” just isn’t as satisfying as watching “The Time Traveler’s Wife” explain away his public nudity.
